A Yeti, an Elf and the Grinch Walk Into a Pet Store to Boost Holiday Sales

HOLIDAY PRODUCTS WILL be plentiful at SuperZoo. Tap the creativity of these six stores for display inspiration, then turn to p.68 to shop early with our annual Coolest Holiday Products special advertising section. Dozens of products fill six whole pages!

Barknfetch
FRISCO, TX

Ginger the Elf made her way around the store, with help from Heather Denton, to promote different holiday products on social media. Among them were Bocce’s Bakery treats, Fabdog plush toys and Scripted breed candles, plus decorated cookies. Cute idea!

Nautical Dog
WILLIAMSBURG, VA

The plush Yeti from Tall Tails inspired this fun and funny holiday display. A large cardboard cutout of the creature atop a mountain anchored the Yeti Crossing, which also featured the company’s Big Foot plush. “Wanted” posters add to the silliness as does the puntastic “Are You Yeti for Presents?” sign. The display helped Amanda Wilbourne and her team sell 150 of the Yeti and Big Foot toys! And prompted shoppers to check out other gift options in the display and store.

Bark on Mulford
ROCKFORD, IL

Kaye Busse-Kleber decorated and parked a classic pickup truck outside for customers to use for holiday pics. The charming set, complete with festive greenery and wrapped presents, attracted customers to the store, where they then shopped for gifts on the porch and inside. Her porch display featured products for pets and humans from Chilly Dog, Primitives by Kathy, Fabdog, Fluff & Tuff, Hugglehounds, SodaPup, Pearhead, ZippyPaws and Up Country.

Lucky Dogs
SKANEATELES, NY

This adorable window display featuring wrapped mailboxes rotated holiday product offerings from Haute Diggity Dog, Fabdog, Tall Tails, Bocce’s Bakery, LuluBelles and Petrageous. Amy Schiek says she got many compliments from customers, who took photos of the display, then came inside to shop. She repurposed the display for Valentine’s Day, too!

A Place for Fido
DULUTH, MN

Jamie Parent and her team drew whimsical inspiration from Whoville for the store’s holiday toy display. The recognizable bent tree sat atop a table filled with toys from P.L.A.Y., Tall Tails and SodaPup. Parent says the display helped boost sales of the toys, leaving her with little to clearance after Dec. 25.

House of Paws
REGINA, SK

Carly Patryluk picked out a few of her favorite things for the store’s Pawliday Wish List, a print and digital guide filled with products from the likes of West Paw, Fuzzyard and Cloudstar. Fun games and puzzles, a DogNog recipe featuring Primal goat milk, and an announcement of her photos with Santa event also were included. Patryluk says the guide drew customers, who shared that they came in specifically for a gift they saw in it.
