International Boarding & Pet Services Association Reveals 2024 IBBY Award Winners

Formally known as the Pet Care Business Excellence Awards, the IBBYs honor businesses that are raising the bar for professionalism and success in the pet-care services industry.

The International Boarding & Pet Services Association has announced the winners of this year’s Pet Care Business Excellence Awards, nicknamed the IBBYs.

Presented at IBPSA’s annual FLOW Business Conference, which was held Sept. 24-26 in Tucson, AZ, the IBBYs are awarded to individuals or organizations that demonstrate excellence in areas such as vision and leadership, animal welfare, company/employee culture, customer service, community involvement and an ongoing commitment to learning, growth and development.

“The IBBY Awards spotlight the best pet care service providers in our industry,” said Carmen Rustenbeck, founder & CEO of IBPSA. “They have become highly sought-after, prestigious awards that not only recognize quality of services but also how the business positively impacts their community, employees and the pets in their care.”

Recipients of this year’s IBBY Awards include:

  • Facility Small Business Award (1-15 employees): Sponsored by LiveOak Bank, the winner of this category is Paw & Order, a dog boarding and training facility located in Keswick Ridge, New Brunswick.
  • Facility Medium Business Award (16-49 employees): Sponsored by First Financial Bank, the winner of this category is K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel of Hamilton, a PACCC-certified, award-winning boarding facility in Hamilton, NJ.
  • Facility Large Business Award (50 or more employees): Sponsored by TerWisscha (TWC), a Minnesota-based company that provides custom design and construction services for the veterinary and dental industries, the winner of this category is The Pet Station Country Club, a boarding, training, and grooming facility with two locations in Louisville, KY.
  • Independent Provider Award: Granted to pet care services individuals or businesses who do not have a brick-and-mortar location, this year’s winner is 4-Legged Kids, a PACCC- and Fear Free-certified dog walking and pet sitting service provider in Ellisville, MO.
  • Industry Partner Award: The winner of this category is Kuranda Dog & Cat Beds, a small Maryland-based manufacturing company that creates pet beds with an elevated design.
  • Industry Leader Award: This award recognizes individuals and organizations who have made outstanding efforts to improve the pet care industry through humanitarian or animal welfare efforts and/or education and industry development. This year’s winner is Amy Hillis, CPACO, co-founder of Social Pet Hotel & Daycare, with locations in the Charlotte, NC, area.

To be considered for an IBBY Award, individuals and organizations must first be nominated by their fellow IBPSA Members. The IBPSA IBBY Selection Committee then requests a video interview with nominees; based on these interviews, three finalists are chosen from each category. Finalists are presented alongside award winners at the annual FLOW Business Conference. In addition to nominating pet care service providers, IBPSA Members may also nominate up to three industry Vendor Partners who they believe are among the best allies for the pet care industry.
